Annette Maye is a clarinettist and festival director. She is active in the field of world music, jazz and improvisation and has played with international musicians and ensembles such as Mohamed Mounir, Gianluigi Trovesi, Glen Velez, Günter "Baby" Sommer, Arkady Shilkloper, Gabriele Mirabassi, Anat Cohen, Hans Lüdemann, Michel Godard, WDR Bigband, hr BigBand, Bergen Bigband or the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich. In the mid-1990s she founded the Oriental Jazz Trio "ensemble FisFüz" (1998 SWR World Music Prize) together with Murat Coskun, and is still touring with her band today. She first studied Eastern European history and Slavic studies in Freiburg, then completed jazz studies at the Cologne University of Music. In 2016, she received the NRW Female Artist Award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Annette Maye composes and arranges for various ensembles and has released numerous CDs as a (co-)bandleader. Concert tours have taken her to many different countries in Europe, the Middle and Far East, Africa and the USA. Since 2013 she has directed the international jazz and world music clarinet festival "Multiphonics" in NRW.  Since 2018 she has been teaching "Klezmer and World Music" at the Musikhochschule Köln in Wuppertal. In 2020, she founded the musicians' collective "Beyond The Roots" in Cologne.
