Eva Klesse
Germany Leipzig/BerlinEva Klesse, *1986, studied jazz in Weimar, Paris, Leipzig and New York City
She is working in various musical projects, among others with Julia Hülsmann Octet, Trillmann, Sarah Chaksad Large Ensemble and her own quartet (with Evgeny Ring, Philip Frischkorn, Marc Muellbauer) and has played with musicians like Ethan Iverson, Marilyn Mazur, Nils Landgren and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
Numerous concert tours led her to China, Chile, Argentina, Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia, Spain, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belgium, Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, France, the United States, Egypt, Malaysia and to various international festivals.
As a band leader Eva has released four albums on enja records and has among others been awarded with the Jazz Echo (German Music Award) in the category „Newcomer of the year,“ the „Leipziger Jazznachwuchspreis der Marion-Ermer-Stiftung“ (Leipzig award for young jazz musicians), the Westfalen-Jazz-Preis (Westphalia Jazz Award), the JTI Trier Jazz Award and the SWR Jazz Award.
In 2018 Eva was appointed as professor of jazz drumset at Hochschule für Musik, Theater and Medien Hannover.
