Jasna Jovicevic is one of the leading jazz artists in Serbia, composing, performing and leading projects such as Jasna Jovicevic Quinary, ANJALI Trio, Jovicevic/Miklos/Wojcinski Trio, Jasna Jovicevic Solo etc…

Jasna Jovicevic graduated from “Franc Liszt” Music Academy in Budapest, Jazz saxophone performance and teaching, received MA in Music Composition from York University in Toronto, and earned PhD in Arts at Singidunum University in Belgrade, focusing on phenomenology of jazz and free improvised music in relation to gender studies. She studied and won the grants to many Artist in Residency programs in New York, San Francisco, Banff, Graz, Brazil and Spain, Zagreb as well as music competitions in Milan, Budapest and Ljubljana, and won a researching grant by JEN in Smithsonian Institute (Washington D.C.) for Women in Jazz study, and also became a National winner of EU AI Lab Project for her work “I Sit and Worry About Her”. Jasna performed her original work around Europe, USA and Canada on many national and international festivals. “Invented Reality”, “The Sound of Birds”, “Travellers”-Dharma, “Flow Vertical” published with British label FMR Records, “Informal Shapes” with free jazz Jovicevic/Miklos/Wojcinski Trio,“Sounding Solitude” by Jasna Jovicevic Quinary with English label The State51 Conspiracy, and “Cardinal Points” album  by ANJALI Trio (with Elisabeth Harnik and Annette Giesriegl) are her solo albums, but she recoded dozen albums as a sidewoman. She teaches music and music methodology on University level, but also developing non-formal music methods in education for children and professional musicians. Jasna is a leader and founder of the all-female big band in Southern Eastern Europe, New Spark Jazz Orchestra- Balkan Women in Jazz.

Artistic projects she develops, characterized as continuous interaction between artistic activity (creation, interpretation and/or production) and scientific reflection, combine phenomenological, conceptual, and affective interaction researches in the area of arts and science, experimental music production, gender / cultural studies and innovations in jazz practice. As a yoga teacher, she is eager to investigate and experiment within new music practices with the multidisciplinary approach to the sound and vibration. Jasna is actively publishing scientific works and articles in discipline of Artistic Research in Music.
