Kristina Shamgunova
Germany MannheimKristina was born in Kasachstan and grew up in the south of Germany.
She is known for her expressive sound on the alto. She gets some attention from playing with well known Pianist Pablo Held from time to time. She studied for extended periods with Alberto Menendez, Richie Beirach and Jürgen Seefelder. She learned a lot from spending time with Allen Blairman who played drums for Albert Ayler. She studied jazz saxophone in Mannheim for a while.
She plays in the Philip Weyand Quartet, a promising young composer and piano player from Germany.
In her own band she tells stories through her compositions, songs and poetry.
