Alto and Baritone saxophone – Charlotte Lang is a Swiss/Dutch alto and baritone saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser born and currently based in Basel, Switzerland. Charlotte is not just a sought-after musician but an intoxicating composer, bandleader and performer. With a deep passion for jazz and virtue of versatility, she plays in bands that span various genres, including hip-hop, rock n’roll, soul, funk and folk music bands.

Charlotte recently graduated with a master's degree in Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston in July 2023. She studied at the Global Jazz Institute under the artistic direction of Danilo Pérez and at Terri Lyne Carrington’s Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice.

Before she went to the United States in 2022, Charlotte completed her bachelor of arts in Music and her master of arts in Music and Education at the JAZZCAMPUS, based in her hometown Basel.

Charlotte had the chance to perform in several bands in the Swiss and European music scene, including the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, the Zurich Jazz Orchestra and the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra. 2020 - 2022, Charlotte has contributed her talents in the highly renowned German Youth Jazz Big Band, BuJazzO, as its baritone saxophone and bass clarinet player. Lang has also toured in Europe, Russia, Nepal and Panama.

Her love does not only belong to the saxophone. For Charlotte, jazz music is an open-minded and tolerant art form, which gives her a feeling of power that strengthens her ambitions as a musician, artist and human being to contribute to a better world. Her unwavering dedication to the pursuit of this music reflects in her composing, playing and teaching.

In 2023 she was selected as a "Sister in Jazz", In 2020, she was a selected participant of the Swiss SOFIA-project (Support of Female Improvising Artists) by Nicole Johänntgen.

She has been mentored by Domenic Landolf, Dani Blanc, Lauren Sevian, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, George Garzone and many more.

Charlotte had masterclasses with Steffen Schorn, Guillermo Klein, Tineke Postma, Kris Davis, Linda Oh, Terri Lyne Carrington, Mark Turner, Ralph Alessi, Jorge Rossy, Karolina Strassmayer, Ansgar Striepens, Niels Klein, Gary Smulyan, Godwin Louis and many more.
