Mareille Merck, jazz guitarist and composer, was born in 1996 in Stralsund, Germany and lives in Zurich, Switzerland. As a teenager she discovered her passion for the guitar and jazz.

She studied jazz guitar in Weimar, Lucerne and Zurich (CH) with Prof. Frank Möbus, Kalle Kalima, Lionel Loueke, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Roberto Bossard.

Mareille is leader and composer of the band “Mareille Merck LARUS” which released their debut album in March 2021 at Mons Records. The trio was nominated for ZKB Jazzpreis in 2021 and invited to the “Suisse Diagonales Jazz” tour. Finland`s national radio company YLE listed Mareille in 2021 as one of the most interesting young jazz artists of these days. In October 2020 she was invited to take part in the “Montreux Jazz Academy” where she shared the stage with John McLaughlin, Anne Paceo and Michael League, Bill Lawrence and Justin Stanton from Snarky Puppy.

In 2021 and 2022 Mareille recieved a scholarship of the city of Zurich to work on her musical projects. Mareille is a board member of the jazzclub “Moods” and the organization “Jazzbaragge” in Zurich.
